Grading finales: Contrived, silly, unoriginal, stupid 5/31/2006 By ALAN PERGAMENT It is time to finish grading season finales before all the summer reality shows arrive. "CSI": As the life of Capt. Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) remained in jeopardy, Gil Grissom (William Petersen) had to deal with the captain's daughter, a hooker and druggie who showed up either out of love or the love of money. Meanwhile, Gil and his gang investigated - surprise, surprise - a bizarre and gruesome case. A man decapitated by a train was a history buff with a 19-inch waist and body parts that were out of place. He contorted his body to get into a Civil War uniform and play old war games. "Well, he died with his boots on," cracked Gil. There also was an obligatory wild sex case. Brass lived and the gang discovered the war buff was laid to rest on the tracks after being accidentally shot by a personal aide who knew he'd want it that way because of family history. Oh, yes, then there was the surprising personal revelation that Gil apparently may have been romantically involved with investigator Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) for some time. That moment aside, the episode was rather routine by "CSI" standards. Rating: 21/2 stars out of 4 www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20060531/1001691.asp
